The department
of Engineering & Technology, Central
Michigan University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor position in Electrical
Engineering beginning August 2008 or earlier. Appointments
are normally at the assistant
professor level, although a more
senior appointment is possible for
candidates with a strong record of research and external funding. A
state-supported university with an on-campus
enrollment of more
than 20,000 students, CMU is a recognized for strong undergraduate education
and a range of focused graduate programs
and research. The Engineering and
Technology Department promotes a balance between high quality teaching and
active research.
Required Responsibilities:
1. Teach
up to 9 credits per semester of
introductory and advanced courses and laboratories in electrical engineering
and related fields.
2. Develop and teach courses
and laboratories in one or more of the following areas: CMOS circuit design, VLSI circuits, power electronics, electromagnetics,
communications,
and microprocessors. The applicant
should also be able to teach fundamental
EE courses and laboratories in microelectronics,
analog and digital circuits when necessary.
3. Be
actively engaged in research/scholarly, teaching, advising, professional
development and service activities.
4. Initiate
a vigorous research program and publish
scholarship in refereed journals.
5. Apply
for internal and external funding in support of teaching, research and
professional service.
6. Supervise
student research.
7. Participate
in professional activities, including meetings,
workshops and other relevant activities including establishing appropriate
relationships with industry.
8. Assist
in moving the program toward EAC/ABET accreditation.
Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D.
in electrical engineering or closely related engineering field; ABD candidates will
be considered if degree completion
is assured before duties commence.
2. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
3. Demonstrated
strong commitment to and
potential for teaching, research and external funding.
4. Demonstrated
ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in one or more of the following areas: CMOS circuit
design, VLSI circuits, power
electronics, electromagnetics,
communications,
and microprocessors. The applicant
should also be able to teach fundamental

Preferred
Qualifications:
1. Relevant experience after
doctorate.
2.
Teaching experience at college level.
Information about the department/college/or
university:
The department presently has 20 full-time
faculty members
and offers a wide range of programs
including undergraduate majors in
electrical and mechanical
engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology management,
and industrial education. Two
interdisciplinary majors shared with
the Department of Computer Science are computer
technology and computer-integrated manufacturing.
Graduate programs include a Master of Arts in Industrial Management and Technology and a Master of Arts in
Industrial Education. Courses are taught
in the 70,000 square foot engineering & technology complex
which houses more than twenty
laboratories and support spaces. The
